On January 9, after the AYE12, in Quito, Ecuador, District Apostle Leonard R. Kolb invited Rainbow-NAC to join a seminar of the regional church leaders of Latin America.
Rolf Hammer, the spokesperson for Rainbow-NAC South America (Arco Iris), did a presentation about sexual diversity, Rainbow-NAC, vulnerable minorities, and Christian tradition. Many questions were answered and existing misconceptions explained. Also, the importance of adequate pastoral care for gay, lesbian, bi-, and transsexual brothers and sisters was addressed.
In attendance were District Apostles Kolb (USA) and Montes de Oca (Brazil), the District Apostle Helper John W. Fendt (USA), the Apostles Félix Diaz and José Lara (Venezuela), Julio Romani (Colombia), Miguel Flores and Segundo Marin (Peru), and Julio Yepez (Panama). Those whose wives accompanied them were also included at the seminar.
