District Apostle Kolb meets with Rainbow-NAC USA

District Apostle Leonard Kolb met with representatives of Rainbow-NAC United States on April 4, 2014, in Deerfield Beach, FL. Topics discussed were the progress in the past year and direction for the future in the U.S. and Central America.

DA Kolb and the Rainbow-NAC representatives

DA Kolb began the meeting with a text-word from Psalm 61: 1-2, "Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I."

Over the past year, Rainbow-NAC had a presence at the Colombia Youth Day, the National Pillar and Flagship Rector meeting, and the National Youth Leaders Seminar, all of which were positive. Awareness, visibility, and inclusion of LGBT members is increasing as is an awareness for inclusion of all who are marginalized as a part of 'stepping forward'.

Projects for 2014 / 2015

Broadening our horizons for the coming year, videos will be made promoting inclusion awareness and diversity, for additional 'categories' of members who are marginalized. The PowerPoint presentation developed last year on 'Inclusion - A Christian Virtue' will be broken down into individual installments which would be suitable to use during midweek gatherings for small-group discussions. The original version can still be used on a congregational level. Resource lists tailored for flagship congregations are still being developed and distributed, and can be modified for use in outlying congregations, as well.

At the three-day International Church Convention in Munich, June 6 - 8, 2014, Rainbow-NAC International will have a significant presence to promote inclusion and awareness for all who visit. There will also be a native English-speaking Rainbow-NAC representative from the United States present.

District Service in Wellington

The following day, there was a District Service in Wellington, west of West Palm Beach, FL, for Georgia, Florida Spanish, East- and West Florida Districts, which was enjoyed by all. After the beginning of the service, DA Kolb mentioned over the altar that yesterday, he had a meeting with Rainbow-NAC, the group that supports the LGBT members in the Church, and then shared the text-word he gave us from Psalm 61 with the congregation. We were very happy to hear us being mentioned from the altar in the beginning of the Divine Service.
