2013 Day of the Youth in Colombia: Following the footsteps of Christ

Under the slogan "I want to follow the footsteps of Christ", the Day of the Youth in Coveñas, Colombia unfolded. Rainbow-NAC was also present.

Apostle Romani with brothers and sisters from Cucuta

From August 17 to 19, 2013, the youth from Bogota, Medellin and Cucuta met in Coveñas on the Caribbean coast of Colombia to celebrate with the Apostle Julio Romani the Youth Encounter. Unfortunately Cali youth could not travel due to security problems on the roads.

Activities for Body and Soul

There were various recreational activities during the weekend. Activities on the beach, in the ocean, and a volleyball tournament were planned in which everyone, including Apostle Romani, participated with great enthusiasm and joy.

But there were also activities to deepen the faith life. In various groups, they shared experiences of faith and dramatized biblical characters, of course with a Colombian flavor.

The footprints of Christ; Sexual Diversity and Inclusion

There were presentations from Priest Julio Cesar Romani and brother Rolf Hammer on Saturday night, "Following in the footsteps of Christ" and "Inclusion - A Christian Virtue" respectively. Throughout the conference, the information table of Rainbow-NAC was open to inquire about sexual diversity and the situation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members in our Church.

Divine Service with the Apostle Romani

Highlight of the Day of the Youth was the divine service on Sunday morning. The Apostle Romani used the textword from Psalm 86:5-7: "For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all who call upon You.
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me." (NKJV)

Dance, Performance and Songs

On Sunday night, the youth showed their artistic gifts. With dancing, acting, and songs, they expressed their joy and showed that in the weeks before the meeting, they had rehearsed with very much love.

On Monday morning, the hardest part arrived - the farewell, but nothing could overshadow the joy of fellowship and treasures received which lived on and were stored in everyone's heart.
